Title: Purchasing Manager

Overview:

  • The Purchasing Manager plays a key role in the business, driving improvements and efficiency within the purchasing department.
  • You may be asked to take on additional tasks as needed to meet business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Purchasing Orders & Back Orders:

  • Lead the purchasing team (Category Managers and Reorder Executives).
  • Ensure all team members are processing orders and managing backorders daily.
  • Review reports with Category Managers to ensure processes are followed.
  • Manage product shortages and update backorders.
  • Check stock levels and place extra orders when necessary.
  • Ensure orders are processed and shipped correctly.

Managing the Team:

  • Lead weekly team meetings to track progress and cost-saving goals.
  • Ensure each Category Manager has a plan and regularly checks progress.
  • Handle returns to suppliers and document the process.
  • Conduct performance reviews with team members.
  • Update processes and train the team as needed.

Pricing & Promotions:

  • Work with the Sales Manager to develop pricing strategies.
  • Ensure cost savings are documented and passed to the sales team.
  • Manage supplier price changes and negotiate for better pricing when needed.
  • Oversee promotions with suppliers to maximize business opportunities.

Web Management & Marketing:

  • Ensure products are listed correctly on the website.
  • Work with Marketing to upload new products and update existing ones.
  • Plan for brochure production and ensure product availability.
  • Promote new products and secure marketing support from suppliers.

Supplier Meetings & Negotiations:

  • Prepare for supplier meetings with clear objectives and reports.
  • Ensure new suppliers are approved and meet company requirements.
  • Manage long-term agreements (LTAs) and ensure supplier relationships are tracked and improved.
  • Coordinate training with suppliers for the sales team.

Communication with Sales:

  • Keep the Sales Team updated on pricing improvements and wins.
  • Ensure Purchasing is aligned with Sales goals and competitive pricing.

Collaboration with Operations & Inventory:

  • Attend weekly meetings with Operations to address issues.
  • Ensure returns to suppliers are handled correctly.
  • Work on improving stock management processes.
