About the job Surface Miner
Responsibilities:
- Operate Heavy Equipment: Utilize a range of heavy machinery, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and haul trucks, to extract and transport materials from surface mining sites efficiently and safely.
- Adhere to Safety Protocols: Follow strict safety procedures and guidelines to ensure the well-being of yourself, your team, and the environment. Report any safety hazards or concerns promptly.
- Maintain Equipment: Perform routine inspections and maintenance on mining equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime. Report any equipment issues to the maintenance team.
- Collaborate with Team: Work closely with supervisors, fellow miners, and other stakeholders to coordinate mining activities, achieve production targets, and maintain effective communication on-site.
- Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of production levels, equipment usage, and any incidents or accidents that occur during mining operations.
- Ensure Environmental Compliance: Operate in accordance with environmental regulations and company policies to minimize environmental impact and promote sustainability.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Surface Miner in the mining industry, with a strong understanding of surface mining techniques and equipment operation.
- Safety-Focused: Demonstrate a commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols at all times. Possess knowledge of safety regulations and procedures relevant to surface mining operations.
- Equipment Proficiency: Proficient in the operation of various heavy machinery used in surface mining operations. Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently.
- Team Player: Excellent teamwork and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with others in a diverse team environment.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by the operational needs of the mine.
- High School Diploma: Minimum educational requirement. Additional certifications or training in mining-related fields are a plus.
- Certifications preferred (Mine Foreman, EMT, Electrical)
