Job Overview:
Our client, a prominent company in the construction industry, is seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Chief Accountant to lead the accounting department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, financial reporting, and compliance, with a deep understanding of the financial challenges in the construction sector. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy of financial records, maintaining compliance with regulations, and providing strategic financial insights to senior management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Management: Oversee all aspects of the companys accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and other financial reports required by management and regulatory bodies.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage the companys budget, providing regular forecasts and variance analysis. Work closely with the management team to align financial goals with business strategies.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local and international accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements. Prepare and submit tax returns, and liaise with external auditors and tax authorities as needed.
• Internal Controls: Implement and maintain robust internal control systems to safeguard company assets, prevent fraud, and ensure the integrity of financial information.
• Cost Management: Monitor and control project costs, ensuring accurate job costing and profitability analysis for construction projects. Provide financial insights to project managers to support effective decision-making.
• Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide training to enhance the teams capabilities.
• Financial Analysis: Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities. Provide strategic recommendations to senior management based on financial analysis and business performance.
• Cash Flow Management: Oversee cash flow management, ensuring the company has adequate liquidity to meet its operational needs. Manage banking relationships and optimize the companys working capital.
• Audit and Risk Management: Coordinate and manage external audits, ensuring all financial records are accurate and audit-ready. Identify and mitigate financial risks to the organization.

Qualifications:

• Educational Background: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification is required.
• Industry Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in a senior accounting role, preferably within the construction industry.
• Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and tax regulations. Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems.
• Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
• Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in managing financial records and preparing reports.
• Leadership Abilities: Proven experience in leading and developing accounting teams. Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and concisely to non-financial stakeholders.
• Ethics and Integrity: Strong ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in all financial activities.
• Language Skills: Fluency in English and Khmer is preferred.
