Location: Indianapolis, IN

Schedule: 36 + 48 hrs | 12-hr shifts | DAYS & NIGHTS

Contract Duration: 13 weeks

Weekly Compensation (after taxes): $2,000 - $2,800 USD

Ratio: 4:1

About the Opportunity

Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU) focuses on close monitoring of patients with cardiovascular diagnoses including, congestive heart failure, post- myocardial infarction, pulmonary hypertension, cardiac arrhythmias, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, congenital heart defects, and infective endocarditis along with a multitude of other co-morbidities. They care for patient post-cath lab procedures, prior to LVAD placements or heart/lung transplants and pre- valve replace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes to ensure optimal patient care as indicate

  • PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown
  • IV therapy/Phlebotomy
  • Central line care/management
  • Starting and maintaining IV
  • Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency response
  • Interpretation of dysrhythmias
  • Management of dysrhythmias

  • Pre/Post Cardiac Cath
  • Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery

  • Titrate Cardiac drips
  • Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Maintains patient confidentiality. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and families. Functions as patient advocate

Required Qualifications

  • Associates degree in nursing required, Bachelors degree in nursing preferred.
  • RN License, CPR, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, EKG
  • 2 years of Trauma Level I REQUIRED
  • MUST be willing to float.  Floating Requirements: Unit travelers may be expected to float to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) with resources provided if needed at both University and Methodist Hospitals
  • MUST be willing to work weekends (50% of contract)
