About the Opportunity

A globally recognized plastics and specialty chemicals manufacturer is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer to own the technical performance of twin-screw extrusion and ABS compounding operations at their Northeast Ohio facility. This is a high-impact, hands-on engineering role within a well-capitalized, ISO/IATF-certified environment that operates Monday through Friday on a day shift. U.S. work authorization is required; visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

What You'll Do

• Own day-to-day process engineering for ABS compounding and twin-screw extrusion lines, including parameter optimization, material consistency, and equipment performance monitoring
• Lead troubleshooting activities for process upsets, quality deviations, and equipment issues across all production shifts
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives targeting yield, throughput, OEE, energy efficiency, scrap reduction, and downtime elimination
• Support scale-up and transfer of new or modified formulations from R&D into stable, full-rate production
• Partner with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Scheduling to ensure process stability and alignment with production plans
• Support commissioning and diagnostics of new and modified manufacturing equipment
• Develop and maintain accurate process documentation, specifications, work instructions, and ERP master data
• Ensure compliance with ISO/IATF standards, GMP requirements, and EHS practices through disciplined execution
• Contribute to capital projects and cost-reduction initiatives related to process efficiency and scrap reduction
• Prepare and communicate technical updates and project results to plant leadership and external stakeholders

What You'll Need

• Bachelor of Science in Chemical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Polymer, Plastics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
• 2+ years of process engineering or manufacturing experience in a plastics environment — polymer compounding, twin-screw extrusion, injection molding, or equivalent
• Hands-on troubleshooting experience in a production manufacturing environment
• Working knowledge of polymer materials, processing fundamentals, and extrusion technology
• Experience analyzing process data and implementing practical, sustainable improvements
• Familiarity with ERP, QMS, and manufacturing systems (SAP preferred)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent basis — no sponsorship available
• Preferred: Direct experience with ABS or engineering thermoplastics
• Preferred: Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma training or project experience
• Preferred: Familiarity with process validation concepts (IQ/OQ/PQ)
• Preferred: Experience supporting capital equipment projects from concept through commissioning
