Location: Covington, KY (On-Site Required)

About the Opportunity

An elite family law firm in Covington is offering a rare opportunity for a driven and detail-obsessed law student to join its high-performing team as a Law Clerk.

This role is perfect for a second- or third-year law student looking to gain real experience in divorce, custody, and complex family law litigation, and potentially step directly into an Associate Attorney position post-graduation. You'll assist with motion drafting, discovery, asset analysis, and client communications on some of the most contentious and high-stakes cases in Ohio and Kentucky.

You'll work under the direct mentorship of one of the regions most recognized family law attorneys, recently invited to join the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), an honor extended to only the top 4% in the field. Expectation will be set very high but they will match the investment in your long-term success.

What You'll Do

  • Assist in drafting motions, briefs, subpoenas, and pleadings for Ohio and KY family courts
  • Support attorneys with legal research, statute interpretation, and case law updates
  • Build and refine financial documents including asset/debt spreadsheets and discovery requests
  • Attend court hearings, trials, and preps (as appropriate for your schedule and experience)
  • Manage case timelines, exhibits, and document organization
  • Receive one-on-one feedback to grow your legal writing and strategic thinking skills

What You'll Need

  • Current 2L or 3L law student in good standing (Ohio or Kentucky law school preferred)
  • Strong academic performance and evidence of exceptional writing skills
  • Interest in high-conflict, high-impact family law (this is not transactional work)
  • Familiarity with basic family law principles and case stages
  • Ability to handle a fast-moving docket with focus and discretion
  • Availability to work 15–25 hours per week, primarily in-person
  • Must submit a writing sample (motion, brief, or similar legal document)

Why This Clerkship is Different

  • Real work, not coffee runs or document scanning
  • Mentorship with a top-tier litigator known for courtroom dominance and appellate advocacy
  • Exposure to the full lifecycle of complex divorce and custody litigation
  • A direct pipeline into a full-time Associate Attorney position after passing the bar
