OliOli® (means joy in the Hawaiian language) is a multiple award-winning contemporary childrens museum that opened to rave reviews in 2017 and expanded in 2022 by opening a branch in Doha, Qatar. Founded by a group of parents who are passionate about open-ended non-judgmental play, OliOli® entails 8 interactive galleries comprising over 45 hands-on exhibits.

The Head of Informal Learning will be responsible for conceiving, designing, and delivering the overall STEAM programmatic framework within OliOli® including temporary activations, events, enrichment programs, field trip programs, holiday camps, birthday party activities, and a variety of other STEAM activities, shows and workshops on offer at the museum (all these programs are hereinafter referred to as Programs). The scope of this position will extend to OliOli® outreach efforts and initiatives and will entail participating temporarily in events and activations elsewhere in the UAE.

KEY ATTRIBUTES & DELIVERABLES

  • Ideate, research, conceive, plan and develop the conceptual/operational/staffing/training/messaging blueprints for world-class, differentiated, varied, vibrant, exciting, and highly fun Programs
  • Engage with community members and other local/international third parties as potential partners/participants for OliOli® Programs
  • Build/inspire/lead a resilient and dynamic creative team with expertise in multiple (distinct) disciplines that support the learning objectives of the museum
  • Contribute to the commercial objectives of the museum to enable a sustained effort and investment into the Programs
  • Ensure that certain Programs relate to and benefit from relevant academic research within the field of cognition, learning, and education (particularly informal education)
  • Act as the OliOli® center of excellence and educate parents/teachers through blogs, workshops, and discussions
  • Develop (or oversee development of) the right STEAM messaging underlying the Programs
  • Spend time on the floor to understand how guests use different galleries/exhibits to learn how guest engagement can be deepened
  • Regularly review, evaluate, and update (as appropriate) the content and delivery of the Programs, and be aligned with and stay true to the principles of open-ended exploration
  • Work with relevant members of the operations and guest engagement teams to successfully execute and deliver on the Programs and achieve high levels of guest engagement/satisfaction
  • Train the OliOli® team to deliver the programs
  • Work with colleagues to recruit, train, and oversee interns to help out at the larger OliOli® Programs
  • Contribute to the marketing strategy and messaging (along with the Head of Marketing) to effectively communicate and entice interest in OliOli® programs
  • Work with the operations team to ensure that OliOli® Programs adhere to the highest H&S standards
  • Ensure that the Programs are rolled out and executed in a successful manner
  • Mentor Senior Imaginators at OliOli® and encourage/support them to develop new Program ideas

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree with relevant education and emphasis
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, plan, and lead/execute/manage Programs
  • Demonstrable team building and managing experience
  • Ability to engage with audiences from diverse nationalities, cultures, and backgrounds
  • Excellent collaboration, problem solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks and balance project demands effectively
