About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer / Head of Finance to support the establishment and operation of a new automotive sales company in Mexico City.
The successful candidate will take overall responsibility for the financial management of the Mexican operation, including accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, treasury, taxation, budgeting, business analysis and financial risk management.
This is an international assignment with close cooperation with the parent company in China, therefore professional Chinese communication skills and fluent Spanish are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for financial planning and management of the Mexican subsidiary and related overseas operations.
- Establish and continuously improve local financial policies, processes and internal-control systems.
- Ensure compliance with Group-level financial and governance requirements.
- Manage accounting activities, financial statements, closing processes and financial reporting.
- Coordinate internal and external audits.
- Manage company funds, bank accounts, cash flow and liquidity.
- Monitor and manage foreign-exchange exposure and related financial risks.
- Oversee local tax filing, tax compliance and cross-border tax matters.
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, cost control and financial performance analysis.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business and operational decision-making.
- Review major commercial contracts, investments, financing activities and significant financial transactions.
- Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks.
- Manage and develop the local finance function.
- Liaise with banks, tax authorities, auditors and other external stakeholders.
- Perform other finance-related responsibilities assigned by management.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in finance or accounting.
- Candidates holding recognised professional qualifications such as ACCA or CPA may be considered with a minimum of approximately 3 years of relevant experience.
- Previous experience in automotive, machinery or industrial-sector finance is strongly preferred.
- Experience in commercial / sales finance within the automotive or machinery sector is highly desirable.
- Previous finance experience in Mexico or within a Chinese-owned business operating in Mexico would be a strong advantage.
- Strong knowledge of accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, cost control and financial analysis.
- Experience with treasury, cash-flow management, banking and taxation.
- Ability to operate independently and build financial processes within a newly established business.
- Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills.
Language Requirements
- Fluent Spanish – required
- Professional Chinese communication skills – required
- Working English proficiency is expected.
Employment & International Assignment
The employment contract will be signed with the parent company in China, with the successful candidate assigned to work on-site in Mexico City.
The initial employment contract is expected to be for 3 years.
The position reports both to the parent company's Financial Control Department and to the local company management.
Frequent travel back to China is not expected.
Compensation & Benefits
Annual compensation package: approximately RMB 400,000–700,000, depending on experience and profile.
The assignment package described by the employer includes:
- Overseas assignment allowance
- Company-covered accommodation in Mexico
- Overseas medical insurance and emergency-assistance coverage
- Meal-related allowance as part of the overseas assignment allowance
- 30 days of paid annual leave after completing 365 days of overseas assignment
- Possibility to split annual leave into up to two periods
- Reimbursement of eligible air tickets to China in connection with annual leave
