Litigation Associate (Insurance/Coverage)
Job Description:
We are working with an international firm seeking a litigation associate with at least two years of insurance coverage and litigation experience to join their newly opened office in New York City. The team provides advice to global Insurers and their insureds across a wide spectrum of classes of insurance but with a particular focus on complex coverage issues and reinsurance matters.
The ideal candidate will have two or more years of experience with litigation and policy coverage work, although candidates with a broader insurance background will also be considered. Candidates will manage cases from beginning to end and support partners and colleagues on larger complex insurance claims. Responsibilities will include analyzing and applying legal principles and facts to derive legal strategies for complex cases and insurance policy coverage issues; drafting and reviewing correspondence, reports, pleadings, briefs, and other related documents; managing discovery; attending fact and expert depositions, court appearances, trial preparation and trials; communicating directly with partners and clients; and tending to any other case or matter related responsibilities. Knowledge of state court and federal court practice and procedure is required, as are strong analytical, organizational, research and writing skills, and the ability to run a caseload and work in an autonomous fashion. Admission to the NY Bar is required.
