Legal Administrative Assistant - Litigation

 Job Description:

We are working with a mid-size, regional, full-service firm seeking a candidate with at least four years of experience as a Litigation Legal Administrative Assistant to join their Hartford, CT office. 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Open new matters
  • Time Entry
  • Submit expense reports
  • Submit vendor invoices
  • Create and organize binders (physical and electronic binders)
  • Track court schedules and calendars
  • E-filing in State and Federal Courts
  • Communicate with clients, court, counsel, and others
  • Prepare certain pleadings for attorney review, prepare responses to document production and review documents produced
  • Draft and serve summons
  • Summarize depositions
  • Prepare trial binders and exhibits
  • Cite check briefs and court pleadings
  • Summary process experience a plus, but not required
  • Experience with state court appellate briefs and filings
  • Assist with trial preparation
  • Schedule deposition appearances
  • Research Bankruptcy Court and Superior Court cases on Pacer
  • Bankruptcy Court Fee Applications
  • Establish and maintain paper and/or electronic filing systems
  • General administrative support for multiple attorneys
  • Other duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Litigation LAA.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint and Excel
  • Extensive knowledge of local court filing processes
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to work well with attorneys and clients
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced office
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self-starter; ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good judgment and decision-making ability
