Trusts & Estates Paralegal (Estate Settlement)
Job Description:
We are working with an established, mid-size law firm seeking a Trusts & Estates Paralegal with a minimum of three years of estate settlement experience to join their Hartford office.
The ideal candidate has experience assisting with estate and trust administration tasks, including preparing probate documents such as asset inventories and accountings, preparing Connecticut and Federal estate tax returns, gathering information for estate and trust income tax returns, and coordinating asset distributions; communicating with clients regarding timing of estate and trust administration tasks, identifying and obtaining information needed and responding to client requests consistently and efficiently; coordinating with clients' advisors and external vendors to gather necessary data and asset information, coordinating tax reporting data and opening and closing accounts as needed in a timely fashion; and collaborating with attorneys and other members of the trusts and estates practice group to ensure superior client services.
Qualifications:
- Associates Degree, Paralegal Certificate or Bachelors degree (preferred).
- 3-5 years of experience in financial services, such as a bank trust environment or an accounting firm, or as a paralegal in trust and estate administration (preferred).
- Proficiency in reading financial and brokerage reports.
- Strong quantitative skills and mathematically adept.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong PC skills including Word and Excel.
