ABOUT OUR CLIENT 

FG Gold Limited has been awarded the Baomahun Gold concession project located in Valunia Chiefdom, Bo District, and is currently in the development phase. To support this project development, FG Gold Limited is seeking a qualified individual to fill the vacant position of Senior Metallurgist.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Metallurgist is responsible for providing metallurgical technical support, testwork and process optimisation for the fixed processing plant at the operational Baomahun gold mine.

The role ensures metallurgical performance is monitored and optimised to maximise gold recovery, and supports the Metallurgy Superintendent with plant surveys, metallurgical accounting and reagent optimisation.

This role will conduct metallurgical testwork, analyse plant performance data, and support continuous improvement initiatives using industry best practice.

The position plays a critical role in maintaining strong metallurgical performance and driving ongoing optimisation of the gold processing plant.

  • Conduct metallurgical testwork trials to support process optimisation across crushing, grinding, gravity, CIL/CIP, elution and carbon regeneration circuits; conduct plant surveys and metallurgical balances, analysing data to identify improvement opportunities; support the Metallurgy Superintendent in developing and implementing process improvement initiatives; monitor and report on grind size, recovery and reagent consumption trends.
  • Support metallurgical accounting and reconciliation processes, including gold-in-process and mine-to-mill/plant reconciliation; oversee assay laboratory quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) to ensure data integrity; prepare production and metallurgical performance reports and support monthly metal accounting processes; support the reagent optimisation programme, monitoring consumption trends and reviewing reagent suppliers.
  • Liaise with Operations and Maintenance on process improvement initiatives and support research and development projects related to metallurgical performance; support capital project evaluations from a metallurgical perspective; promote Zero Harm principles and ensure metallurgical practices comply with statutory safety requirements; participate in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) development, Permit to Work processes, safety inspections and risk assessments; develop effective working relationships with Processing Operations, Maintenance, Laboratory, Geology, Supply Chain and the HSE Department.

QUALIFICATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Educational Background:

Holds a Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgy, Extractive Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years' metallurgical experience in gold processing.
  • Experience with CIL/CIP, flotation and gravity circuits.
  • Previous experience in a Greenfield mining project (desirable).

Languages:

Fluency in English.

Physical Requirements:

  • Site-based Greenfield mining project; remote mine location.
  • Roster-based employment.
  • Exposure to construction, commissioning and operational environments.
  • Occasional work outside normal business hours during shutdowns, commissioning and critical activities.
  • Frequent interaction with operational and project teams.
