A well established company is currently recruiting for a Refinery Manager Refinery Refurbishment Project in Ghana

Position Overview:

The Refinery Manager is a senior-level leadership position responsible for overseeing the operations and management of a petroleum refinery in Ghana. This role requires a strong background in refining processes, safety protocols, and industry regulations. The Refinery Manager will lead a team of skilled professionals and collaborate with various departments to ensure the safe, efficient, and profitable operation of the refinery

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
  • Extensive experience in refinery operations and management, with at least 10 years of relevant work experience, including leadership roles.
  • In-depth knowledge of refining processes, equipment, and industry best practices.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations within the refining industry.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively manage a diverse workforce and collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex operational challenges and make data-driven decisions.
  • Demonstrated track record of achieving operational excellence, cost management, and process optimization in a refinery setting

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Refinery Operations Management:
    • Plan, organize, and direct all aspects of refinery operations, ensuring compliance with established procedures and industry standards.
    • Oversee the processing of crude oil and other feedstocks to produce a variety of refined petroleum products, including gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and other petrochemicals.
    • Monitor production metrics, efficiency, and product quality, making strategic decisions to optimize output and minimize downtime.
  1. Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
    • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture throughout the refinery, ensuring that all employees and contractors adhere to safety guidelines and regulations.
    • Implement and maintain safety programs, conduct regular safety audits, and address any potential hazards promptly to prevent accidents and incidents.
    • Comply with environmental regulations, aiming to reduce the refinery's environmental impact through waste management and emissions control measures.
  1. Team Leadership and Development:
    • Manage and mentor a diverse team of refinery professionals, including engineers, operators, technicians, and support staff.
    • Set performance objectives, conduct regular performance evaluations, and provide training and development opportunities to enhance the team's skills and expertise.
  1. Budgeting and Cost Control:
    • Develop and manage the refinery's budget, ensuring cost control measures are in place and adhered to without compromising safety or quality.
    • Identify opportunities for cost-saving initiatives and operational efficiency improvements.
  1. Maintenance and Asset Integrity:
    • Coordinate and oversee maintenance activities, including preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment and facilities, to ensure optimal functioning and longevity of assets.
    • Develop and implement strategies to monitor and maintain the integrity of refinery equipment and infrastructure.
  1. Quality Assurance and Quality Control:
    • Establish and maintain rigorous quality assurance and quality control measures to ensure compliance with product specifications and industry standards.
  1. Regulatory Compliance:
    • Stay updated on relevant local and international regulations and ensure the refinery's operations are in compliance with all applicable laws and industry standards.
