A well established company is currently recruiting for a Fabrication Workshop Estimator in Ghana

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Estimator to join our team in the fabrication and maintenance of topside and subsea equipment, and other engineering services. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for fabrication projects, working closely with workshop managers, engineers, and clients to ensure all aspects of project costs are properly accounted for. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge in fabrication processes, engineering services, and the ability to assess material, labor, and equipment costs effectively.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in cost estimation for fabrication, specifically within the oil and gas, subsea, or marine industries.
  • Proven track record of estimating for topside and subsea equipment fabrication projects.
  • Experience working with industry-standard estimating software (e.g., Estimator, WinEst, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes, material types, and equipment used in the construction of topside and subsea systems.
  • Familiarity with project costing, tendering processes, and project scheduling.
  • Knowledge of safety, quality standards, and regulations in the oil and gas sector.
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently.
  • Experience with 3D modeling or CAD software for fabrication and estimating.
  • Knowledge of offshore or subsea fabrication techniques and materials.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools (e.g., Primavera, MS Project).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed, accurate, and competitive cost estimates for the fabrication of topside and subsea equipment based on project requirements, specifications, and drawings.
  • Review and analyze engineering drawings, technical specifications, and other documentation to identify the scope of work and develop a comprehensive cost estimate.
  • Develop cost breakdown structures, including labor, materials, equipment, and overheads, ensuring all aspects of the project are covered.
  • Quantify and calculate material requirements and labor costs, ensuring all estimates are aligned with the latest market trends and procurement costs.
  • Work closely with workshop managers, engineers, and procurement teams to obtain accurate cost data and assess project needs.
  • Liaise with vendors and suppliers to obtain quotes for materials and subcontracted services, ensuring the most competitive prices are achieved.
  • Communicate with clients to clarify project requirements, scope of work, and special considerations.
  • Assist in preparing bids, proposals, and tenders for new projects, ensuring compliance with client specifications and industry standards.
  • Ensure that estimates are aligned with budget forecasts and project timelines.
  • Analyze and assess any discrepancies or changes to the original scope of work and adjust estimates accordingly.
  • Support the project management team during project execution by reviewing costs and providing ongoing cost analysis and reporting.
  • Identify and assess risks associated with the project scope, timeline, and budget, and include contingency provisions in the cost estimates.
  • Advise on potential cost-saving measures without compromising on quality and safety.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, material costs, fabrication processes, and emerging technologies to improve cost estimation accuracy.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of estimating processes, tools, and templates.
