Project Manager (SMPP)
Job Description:
A well established company is currently recruiting for a Project Manager (SMPP) in Ghana
The Project Manager is responsible for the successful planning, engineering, execution and commissioning of a structural, mechanical, plate work and piping equipment (SMPP) project both at fabrication and erection stages of the project.
The Project Manager has overall responsibility from project inception to closing.
The Project Manager manages the project to ensure on-time delivery, to complete the job within budget and to meet or exceed customer expectations
Minimum Requirements:
- Mechanical Engineering Diploma or extensive experience in field with EPC (SMPP) Projects as a Project Manager
- Five (5) years minimum EPC (SMPP) experience and three (3) years project management experience preferred.
- Experience/knowledge in respect of:
- steelwork fabrication (includes structural steel, plate work, piping);
- materials, welding, NDE methods, corrosion protection coatings; and
- manufacturing technologies, processes techniques and installation procedures.
- Familiarity with industry relevant codes and standards (API RP 2RD, ASME, API, etc.).
- Relevant experience within the mining industry
- Excellent technical report writing skills.
- Good communication and multi-tasking skills.
- Travel to and from various sites.
- Technical knowledge and an ability to read and interpret technical/engineering drawings
- Must be able to handle multiple priorities and deadlines and ability to work under pressure.
- Computer literate (able to operate MS office, MS Projects)
- Detail oriented (accuracy and exception attention to detail critical).
- Exceptional organisational skills and a self starter.
- Ability to communicate at all levels and sound interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:
- Project management of company fabrication and site installation project (includes supplier management) including monitoring of project with an emphasis on scope, delivery, cost, schedule and efficiency tracking.
- Coordinate project activities between fabrication personnel, construction personnel, material and service suppliers, which includes development of project schedules and progress reports.
- Significant client contact includes:
- Attending kick-off meetings, progress meetings, site meetings;
- Progress reporting (preparing and submitting reports);
- Updating contract programmes;
- Managing commercial terms of project which includes:
- manage submission of timeous delay notifications to client;
- adhering to contractual provisions.
- Ensure compliance with company installation and quality standards.
- Review and interpret fabrication and construction schedules and documents (e.g. specifications, testing procedures, etc.).
- Budget estimation and forecasting.
