Workshop Manager

 Job Description:

A well established company is currently recruiting for a Workshop Manager in Ghana

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum educational qualification of BSc in Mechanical Engineering related field of endeavour. A higher-level qualification would be an advantage.
  • Minimum of 10 Years working experience in Oil and Gas or Mining Industry
  • Hands-on experience as a pipe fitter or welder added advantage
  • Minimum of 10 Years working experience managing a workshop
  • Minimum of 10 Years working experience in fabrication/engineering related field
  • Extensive knowledge in parts ordering and sourcing internationally and locally
  • Relevant working experience in mining, oil and gas or petrochemical industry would be an advantage
  • Fully conversant with engineering technical drawings and CAD programmes
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all workshop management levels.
  • Good Leadership Skills
  • Computer literate and numerate.
  • Attention to detail and focus on quality
  • Team player and leader / motivator.
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution

Responsibilities:

  • Oversight responsibility for job scheduling and workflow for the workshop
  • Liaise with Workshop Supervisors and Planner to coordinate resources, schedules, and activities to effectively manage all scope of work in Workshop
  • Ensure timely and efficient completion of jobs in line with client expectations and organization standards
  • Collaborate with Technical and Workshop Managers during quotation process to establish timelines, resources, and tasks for the respective jobs
  • Responsible for creating weekly schedules for all workshop activities, considering availability of material, labor, equipment etc.
  • Weekly update on progress of jobs within the workshop communicate delays or concerns that require attention from management
  • Prepare regular reports on workshop performance, including KPIs, budget reports and other relevant data
  • Reading and interpretation of drawings and sketches.
  • Responsible for developing comprehensive plans for all jobs in the workshop, including timelines, resources, and tasks
  • Liaise with the relevant parties to ensure necessary materials, tools and consumables required for the workshop are readily available
  • Liaise with Workshop Manager to efficiently schedule equipment and labor availability to execute jobs in the workshop
  • Ensure all jobs are executed within the planned duration
  • Work to agreed specifications and requirements.
  • Training and development of subordinates.
  • Ensure correct use of appropriate PPE and material handling equipment.
  • Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensure the use and availability of only calibrated tools.
  • Enforce compliance to health, safety and environmental regulations within the Welding and Fabrication section.
  • Ensure safe handling of carrier gases and electrodes.
  • Maintain equipment, tooling and consumables.
  • Ensure that work areas are organized, clean and tidy.
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the General Manager.
