About the job Project Manager

This role requires a strong combination of project management expertise and practical experience delivering complex data, cloud, and governance initiatives within enterprise environments.

The Project Manager will work closely with business stakeholders, data architects, data engineering teams, cloud platform teams, information security, compliance, and external vendors to ensure successful delivery of programme objectives.

Responsibilities

Party Master Implementation

The Project Manager will:

  • Develop and maintain integrated project plans and schedules.
  • Coordinate business, data architecture, and technology stakeholders involved in the Party Master solution.
  • Manage dependencies across source system integrations and data migration activities.
  • Oversee project delivery relating to:
    • Party data model implementation.
    • Customer/party data migration.
    • Data quality improvement initiatives.
    • Record deduplication activities.
    • Matching and survivorship rule implementation.
  • Manage testing activities including System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and business sign-off.
  • Coordinate cutover, deployment, and go-live activities.
  • Track dependencies with related identity management and client ID initiatives.
  • Manage risks, issues, decisions, and escalations throughout the project lifecycle.

Metadata & Reference Data Management Platform

The Project Manager will:

  • Lead delivery of metadata and reference data platform implementation activities.
  • Coordinate platform setup and configuration activities with technology teams.
  • Drive metadata catalogue and governance framework implementation.
  • Coordinate integration of Unified Studio with existing governance and catalogue tools.
  • Manage dependencies across data engineering, cloud, security, and governance teams.
  • Coordinate environment provisioning activities.
  • Facilitate security, compliance, and InfoSec approvals.
  • Manage AWS vendor and internal cloud delivery dependencies.
  • Lead user onboarding, change management, training, and adoption activities.
  • Ensure successful transition into operational support.

Project Governance & Reporting

The Project Manager will:

  • Produce and maintain project plans, schedules, and milestone tracking.
  • Develop and maintain RAID logs (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, and Dependencies).
  • Prepare and present Steering Committee materials.
  • Deliver status reporting at agreed intervals.
  • Develop and execute stakeholder engagement and communication plans.
  • Facilitate governance forums and project working groups.
  • Escalate critical risks and delivery concerns appropriately.
  • Manage project closure, lessons learned, and operational handover activities.

Key Activities

Required Skills & Experience

  • 8+ years' experience in project management.
  • Proven experience delivering enterprise data management or master data initiatives.
  • Experience managing complex technology projects involving multiple business and technical stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Master Data Management (MDM)
    • Data governance
    • Metadata management
    • Reference data management
    • Data migration
    • Data quality management
    • Testing and deployment management
  • Experience delivering cloud-based data solutions, preferably on AWS.
  • Strong project governance, reporting, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience managing vendors, third-party partners, and cross-functional delivery teams.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and executive reporting capabilities.

Desirable

  • Financial Services or Asset Management industry experience.
  • Experience with Party Master, Client Master, Customer Master, or MDM platforms.
  • Experience with data cataloguing and governance tools.
  • Experience working with AWS data and governance services.
  • Experience leading enterprise data transformation programmes.
  • Experience with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery methodologies.

Qualifications

  • Matric and Tertiary Degree
    • PMP
    • PRINCE2
    • Agile Project Management

Preferred

  • Data Management certification (DAMA/CDMP or equivalent).
  • AWS Cloud Practitioner or Associate certification.
  • Scrum Master or Agile certification.

  • Effective management of project risks and dependencies.
  • Timely and accurate stakeholder reporting.
  • Successful completion of UAT and business sign-off.
