Summary of Role

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the design, administration, support, security, and continuous improvement of the organization's infrastructure environment. This role ensures that all infrastructure services remain secure, available, resilient, and scalable to meet current and future business requirements.

Responsibilities

Infrastructure Operations

  • Administer and maintain Windows Server environments.
  • Manage virtualization platforms including VMware and/or Hyper-V.
  • Support enterprise storage solutions and backup platforms.
  • Maintain Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and Identity Services.
  • Monitor infrastructure performance and capacity.
  • Perform patch management and system upgrades.
  • Ensure infrastructure availability and operational stability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure incidents.

Cloud & Modern Workplace

  • Administer Microsoft Azure environments.
  • Manage Microsoft 365 services including:
    • Exchange Online
    • SharePoint Online
    • Teams
    • OneDrive
    • Entra ID (Azure AD)
  • Support hybrid cloud and hybrid identity solutions.
  • Implement and maintain Microsoft Intune and endpoint management solutions.
  • Manage cloud governance, security, and cost optimization initiatives.

Network & Connectivity Management

  • Manage and maintain:
    • FortiGate Firewalls
    • Core Switching
    • Wireless Infrastructure
    • VPN Services
    • WAN Connectivity
    • Internet Services
  • Ensure secure and reliable communication between business sites.
  • Support network monitoring and performance optimization.
  • Lead network troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

Cybersecurity

  • Implement infrastructure security best practices.
  • Manage endpoint protection solutions such as CrowdStrike.
  • Support vulnerability management and remediation programs.
  • Conduct security reviews and risk assessments.
  • Support compliance and audit requirements.
  • Participate in security incident investigation and response.
  • Drive continuous improvement of the organization's cybersecurity posture.

. Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery

  • Ensure backup solutions are functioning correctly.
  • Manage and maintain disaster recovery environments.
  • Conduct periodic recovery testing.
  • Document recovery procedures and business continuity plans.
  • Ensure critical business applications can be restored within agreed recovery objectives.

Projects & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead and deliver infrastructure-related projects.
  • Plan and execute:
    • Infrastructure upgrades
    • Technology refresh initiatives
    • Cloud migrations
    • Platform consolidations
    • Security improvements
  • Develop automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for cost optimization and service improvements.

Technical Leadership

  • Act as Tier 3 (T3) escalation point for complex technical issues.
  • Mentor and coach junior infrastructure engineers.
  • Define infrastructure standards and operational procedures.
  • Review technical designs and implementation plans.
  • Contribute to architectural and strategic technology decisions.
  • Drive implementation of best practices across the IT environment.

BPO-Specific Accountabilities

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Active Directory and identity services across all sites.
  • Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 administration.
  • FortiGate firewall administration and WAN connectivity.
  • Microsoft SCCM and Intune endpoint management.
  • CrowdStrike administration and security monitoring.
  • Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning.
  • Infrastructure resilience across multiple business locations.
  • Ensuring business operations can continue from alternative sites during outages or disasters.
  • Supporting high-availability environments for contact center operations.

Qualifications

  • Matric and a Degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Microsoft, Azure, VMware, or networking certifications.

Certifications

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • Microsoft Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert
  • Fortinet NSE / FortiGate Certifications
  • VMware VCP
  • ITIL Foundation
  • CISSP, Security+, or equivalent security certification

Experience

  • 7+ years' experience in Infrastructure Engineering.
  • 3+ years in a senior engineering or technical leadership role.
  • Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure environments.
  • Experience in multi-site operations.
  • Experience within a BPO, Contact Centre, Financial Services, or Managed Services environment.
  • Experience leading cloud migration projects.
  • Experience implementing cybersecurity frameworks and controls.
