Key Responsibilities

Lead meetings and discussions to identify client needs, project goals, and budget constraints.

Oversee tender adjudications, providing insightful information to senior management.

Research materials, equipment, labour costs, and market trends for accurate cost estimations.

Obtain competitive quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, evaluating terms and reliability.

Assess project risks and develop strategies to minimise financial and operational impacts.

Prepare detailed project cost breakdowns for client submission, ensuring specification compliance.

Collaborate with the QS/Commercial team to source quality materials at competitive prices.

Ensure estimates comply with legal, safety, and environmental regulations.

Liaise with architects, engineers, project managers, and clients to align on project objectives.

Stay informed about industry trends, construction methods, and cost-estimation advancements.

Build strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors, negotiating competitive rates.

Revise estimates based on project scope changes and deliver financial reports to management and clients.

Person Specification:

Solid background in Estimating within the construction industry.

Strong working knowledge of industry-standard forms of contract and measurement (e.g., SMM7, CESMM3).

Familiarity with CDM regulations and Design & Build tendering processes.

Ability to take off quantities and prepare feasibility costs.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Clean driving licence.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills.

High degree of motivation, commercial acumen, and attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple activities and projects independently and as part of a team.

Outgoing personality to engage directly with clients and their design teams.

Flexibility to adapt to diverse business needs and meet deadlines.
