Northwest Talent Solutions is partnering with an aerospace and defense technology organization developing next-generation tactical communications systems. We are seeking a signal-processing focused FPGA Design & Verification Engineer to support the development of modem and radio communication products.
This is a hands-on role within a cross-functional engineering team responsible for designing, verifying, and testing FPGA firmware supporting embedded communications hardware.
What You'll Do:

Architect FPGA processing solutions from system requirements

Design and implement firmware using VHDL/Verilog RTL development

Develop verification environments and self-checking test benches using SystemVerilog
-
Implement and verify modem and digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms
-
Integrate FPGA firmware onto hardware platforms
-
Create FPGA specifications, development plans, and verification plans
-
Perform requirements analysis, trade studies, and design reviews

Support lab testing, validation, and troubleshooting

Collaborate with systems, software, and hardware engineers

Present technical status and documentation to engineering teams and stakeholders
Required Qualifications:
-
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field (or equivalent experience)

7+ years of relevant FPGA or embedded digital design experience

Experience with FPGA/ASIC development using VHDL or Verilog

Experience with FPGA verification using SystemVerilog
-
Experience integrating FPGA firmware on hardware

Experience using FPGA vendor tools (Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus, or similar)

Experience working in a Linux development environment

Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance
Preferred Experience:

Digital signal processing (DSP) or modem/waveform implementations

Communications or RF system development

MATLAB or Simulink modeling

Python or TCL scripting
-
Universal Verification Methodology (UVM)

FPGA verification tools (Questa or similar)

Source control tools (Git/SVN)
Ideal Background:
Candidates who have worked on embedded communications systems, radio products, or defense-related signal processing platforms will be especially relevant. Experience implementing algorithms in programmable logic and verifying performance against system requirements is highly valued.
