About the Opportunity
We are conducting a confidential search for an experienced Estimating Manager to join a highly respected construction organization with a strong reputation for preconstruction excellence, collaboration, and disciplined execution.
This role is ideal for an estimator who thrives on complex projects, detailed quantity takeoffs, scope clarity, and constructability-driven cost solutions. You will play a key role in shaping competitive bids, negotiated proposals, and value-driven estimating strategies while working closely with operations, field teams, subcontractors, and vendors.
What You'll Do

Prepare detailed cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated projects

Perform quantity takeoffs directly from plans and specifications

Read, interpret, and outline project drawings and specifications

Maintain clear audit trails from estimate to estimate

Develop and manage trade scopes of work, responsibility matrices, and pricing strategies

Coordinate subcontractor and vendor pricing, bid solicitation, and evaluation
-
Partner with operations and field teams to identify more economical construction methods

Support self-perform estimating and understand labor productivity

Apply Lean construction principles to improve value and profitability

Participate in bid day activities, summaries, and procurement presentations

Deliver professional, comprehensive estimate packages at each milestone

Provide mentorship and knowledge-sharing within the estimating team
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:

3+ years of construction estimating experience

Strong ability to read and understand drawings and specifications

Experience preparing complex estimates for competitive or negotiated work

Proficiency with construction estimating software and Excel

Knowledge of means and methods, scopes of work, and subcontractor coordination

Ability to collaborate effectively with project teams, vendors, and field staff
Preferred Background:

5+ years of total construction industry experience

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field

Exposure to self-perform work, labor productivity, and general requirements

Familiarity with Lean construction principles

Experience supporting projects from preconstruction through execution
