Senior Estimator – Heavy Civil / Highway

Phoenix, Arizona | Office-Based | Full-Time

We're looking for a Senior Heavy Civil Estimator who wants more than just putting numbers together—you want to own bids, influence strategy, and help win complex infrastructure projects.

In this role, estimating is not back-office support—it's a core driver of growth and competitive advantage. You'll partner with leadership, project teams, and operations to deliver accurate, strategic, and winning bids across Arizona's most impactful infrastructure projects.

What You'll Do:

• Analyze plans, specs, and geotechnical reports with a risk-first mindset

• Perform site visits and pre-bid evaluations

• Define self-perform vs subcontracted scopes

• Build and distribute subcontractor and supplier bid packages

• Develop complete estimates using HCSS HeavyBid (takeoffs, assemblies, logic)

• Evaluate subcontractor/vendor pricing and make award recommendations

• Lead bid reviews, challenge assumptions, and refine strategy

• Collaborate with leadership to position bids for profitability and success

What We're Looking For:

Experience

• 5+ years of heavy civil / roadway estimating experience

• Proven experience with:

  • Mass grading & earthwork

  • Concrete structures

  • Asphalt paving & aggregates

  • Transportation infrastructure projects

• Aviation project experience (runways, taxiways, aprons) is a strong plus

Technical Skills

• HCSS HeavyBid (required)

• Experience with tools such as:

  • AGTEK

  • OST

  • Primavera P6

  • Advanced Excel

Education

• Bachelor's degree in:

  • Civil Engineering

  • Construction Management

  • Or equivalent experience
