About the job Industrial Engineer III – Packaging & Material Flow Optimization
Industrial Engineer III – Packaging & Material Flow Optimization (Onsite | Eagle, WI)
Manufacturing | Lean Operations | Supplier Packaging Strategy
Northwest Talent Solutions (NWTS) is partnering with a leading advanced manufacturing organization to identify an Industrial Engineer III who thrives in fast-paced, production-driven environments and wants to make a measurable impact on how materials move, arrive, and perform on the shop floor.
This is not a traditional packaging role.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on designing how materials flow into manufacturing—efficiently, cost-effectively, and production-ready.
What You'll Own:
- Design and optimize supplier packaging strategies aligned to PFEP (Plan for Every Part) and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
- Improve material presentation to the line to drive efficiency, reduce handling, and eliminate waste
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives across packaging, logistics, and manufacturing interfaces
- Develop and implement standard work, SOPs, and packaging policies
- Partner cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Engineering
- Evaluate and implement equipment, layouts, and material flow processes
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) to ensure packaging readiness from day one
- Travel to suppliers (regional) to assess and improve inbound material packaging and transport
What This Role Is (and Is Not)
IS:
- A plant-facing Industrial Engineering role
- Focused on material flow, inbound logistics, and production readiness
- Driving real operational impact on the shop floor
NOT:
- A consumer packaging / labeling / boxing role
- A purely design or documentation-based position
What You Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Industrial Technology
- 5+ years in manufacturing / industrial engineering environments
-
Experience with:
- Material flow & line-side presentation
- Packaging strategy for inbound materials / WIP
- Lean / Continuous Improvement methodologies
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills
- Ability to work both strategically and hands-on in the plant
Preferred:
- SAP or ERP exposure
- CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.)
- Experience with PFEP, TCO modeling, or supplier packaging programs
Why This Role Stands Out:
- Direct impact on plant performance, cost, and efficiency
- Opportunity to design systems—not just maintain them
- High visibility across operations, engineering, and supply chain
- A role where your work is seen, measured, and implemented
