About the Role
We are currently seeking an Intermediate Geologist with a background in mining or related industries. This is a fly-in, fly-out contract role, with the potential to convert to a full-time, permanent position based in Labrador City. The successful candidate will have experience in mineral exploration, mine site geology, and geological modeling.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct geological mapping, sampling, and data collection to support exploration and mining activities
- Analyze and interpret geological data, including rock formations, ore body identification, and mineral resource estimation
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support mine planning and development
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal stakeholders
- Utilize geological software and tools to develop models and generate insights
- Monitor drilling activities, assist in core logging, and oversee sampling procedures
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and environmental standards
- Contribute to feasibility studies, including reserve and resource estimations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Geology or a related field; an advanced degree and/or P.Geo designation is an asset
- 5+ years of relevant experience in mining geology, exploration, or geological consulting
- Proficiency with geological modeling software
- Knowledge of applicable mining regulations and safety protocols
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work in remote, challenging environments
- Valid Canadian drivers license with a clean driving record
- Bilingual (English/French) is considered an asset
Additional Information:
- Role based in Labrador City, NL
- Contract position with potential for permanent full-time conversion
- Fly-in, fly-out arrangement with travel, living allowance, accommodations, and a vehicle provided by North Star Associates
- Start date: Immediate
- A negative pre-employment drug and alcohol test, along with an acceptable driving record, is required
