Backed by one of the biggest conglomerate groups in Indonesia, our customer is building one of the most exciting F&B specialty brands in Surabaya. They are looking for Luxury Tea Sommelier to curate transcendent tea journeys at their premier specialty F&B. You'll master 300+ rare blends, orchestrate theatrical service rituals, and transform guests into lifelong connoisseurs of single-estate, vintage, and artisan-infused teas.
What you'll do:
- Brew 100+ teas daily with atomic precision (±1°C water temp, gram-scale leaf measurements).
- Perform tableside "tea theatre" (smoke infusion, blooming teas, Ming Dynasty steeping).
- Guide guests through vintage tea flights (e.g., 2015 Darjeeling First Flush vs. 2023).
- Design personalized pairing menus (macarons, finger sandwiches) for tasting sessions.
- Maintain pristine tea station: calibrate 20+ teapots/hour, polish silver strainers.
- Track tea waste by gram and replenish rare reserves (e.g., Phoenix Oolong, Jade Sword).
- Achieve 40%+ sales conversion of tea retail (caddies, limited editions).
- Update digital tea logs: steeping times, guest preferences, inventory alerts.
What you'll need:
- 3+ years in luxury tea service (five-star hotels, TWG-style boutiques)
- Certified Tea Sommelier (ITMA/PTCC Level 2 or equivalent)
- Expertise in Asian/European tea traditions (gongfu cha, Russian samovar)
- Physical grace: Carry 15kg tea chests, glide through service in formal attire
- Fluency in English + Bahasa Indonesia (tea storytelling)
The ideal candidate will have:
- Leaf intuition: Detect harvest year by dry aroma alone.
- ️Time alchemy: Brew Silver Needle white tea to "liquid silk" texture at 79°C/52s.
- Pairing genius: Match Himalayan green tea with yuzu financiers.
- Ambassador poise: Explain oxidation levels to VIPs while pouring 36" streams.
- Bonus: Experience with aged pu-erh or smoked lapsang souchong.
