Our client a well established Truck organisation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Workshop Manager to oversee the truck maintenance and repair operations. The Workshop Manager will be responsible for leading a team of technicians, ensuring the efficient and effective maintenance of our fleet of trucks, and managing the workshop's day-to-day operations. Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead and motivate a team of technicians, mechanics, and support staff.
- Set clear performance expectations, provide training, and conduct performance evaluations.
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Workshop Operations:
- Plan and prioritize maintenance and repair activities to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
- Ensure that all equipment and tools are properly maintained and utilized.
- Monitor inventory levels of spare parts and supplies, and reorder as necessary.
- Truck Maintenance:
- Oversee scheduled maintenance, inspections, and repairs of the truck fleet.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical issues.
- Implement preventive maintenance programs to extend the life of the trucks.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure that all work is carried out in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Conduct safety meetings, trainings, and audits to promote a safe work environment.
- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents and near misses.
- Budget Management:
- Develop and manage the workshop budget, including cost control measures.
- Monitor expenses, analyze variances, and recommend cost-saving initiatives.
- Quality Control:
- Implement quality control procedures to ensure the highest level of workmanship.
- Conduct quality inspections on completed repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Customer Service:
- Collaborate with internal departments and external customers to meet service expectations.
- Address customer inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
- Reporting:
- Provide management with insights and recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Red Seal Trade Certificate Diesel Mechanic
- Proven experience (5+ years) in truck maintenance and repair, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of truck systems, engines, and diagnostic tools.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage a diverse team and resolve conflicts effectively.
- Proficiency in computer applications and maintenance software.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Valid driver's license.
