Our client a well established Truck organisation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Workshop Manager to oversee the truck maintenance and repair operations. The Workshop Manager will be responsible for leading a team of technicians, ensuring the efficient and effective maintenance of our fleet of trucks, and managing the workshop's day-to-day operations. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Team Management:

    • Lead and motivate a team of technicians, mechanics, and support staff.
    • Set clear performance expectations, provide training, and conduct performance evaluations.
    • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  2. Workshop Operations:

    • Plan and prioritize maintenance and repair activities to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
    • Ensure that all equipment and tools are properly maintained and utilized.
    • Monitor inventory levels of spare parts and supplies, and reorder as necessary.
  3. Truck Maintenance:

    • Oversee scheduled maintenance, inspections, and repairs of the truck fleet.
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical issues.
    • Implement preventive maintenance programs to extend the life of the trucks.
  4. Safety and Compliance:

    • Ensure that all work is carried out in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
    • Conduct safety meetings, trainings, and audits to promote a safe work environment.
    • Maintain accurate records of safety incidents and near misses.
  5. Budget Management:

    • Develop and manage the workshop budget, including cost control measures.
    • Monitor expenses, analyze variances, and recommend cost-saving initiatives.
  6. Quality Control:

    • Implement quality control procedures to ensure the highest level of workmanship.
    • Conduct quality inspections on completed repairs and maintenance tasks.
  7. Customer Service:

    • Collaborate with internal departments and external customers to meet service expectations.
    • Address customer inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
  8. Reporting:
    • Provide management with insights and recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Red Seal Trade Certificate Diesel Mechanic
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in truck maintenance and repair, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of truck systems, engines, and diagnostic tools.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage a diverse team and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and maintenance software.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Valid driver's license.
