REGIONAL SALES MANAGER – OPTICAL / PHARMACEUTICAL
Are you an experienced Sales Manager with a strong background in the optical or pharmaceutical industry?
We are seeking a commercially driven Regional Sales Manager to lead and develop a regional sales team, drive achievement of sales targets, grow market share and strengthen the company's position across a portfolio of premium optical lens brands.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a strong sales manager who can translate commercial strategy into regional execution, hold the team accountable for performance, develop sales capability and build strategic relationships with key customers and Eye Care Professionals.
Minimum Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Sales Management, Optics, Optometry or a relevant commercial field.
- Minimum 7 years' experience within the optical or pharmaceutical wholesale/retail industry.
- Proven experience managing and leading a sales team to achieve regional or departmental sales targets.
- Demonstrated track record of driving revenue growth, market development and sales performance.
- Experience within the optical industry will be highly advantageous.
- Strong Key Account Management and Business Development experience.
- Export or cross-border trade experience will be advantageous.
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel extensively.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and develop the regional sales team to achieve individual, regional and departmental sales targets.
- Set clear sales objectives, priorities and performance expectations across the region.
- Monitor individual and team sales performance, identify performance gaps and implement corrective action where required.
- Coach and support Sales Representatives to improve sales effectiveness, product knowledge, customer engagement and territory performance.
- Conduct regular field visits and customer engagements with the sales team to support account development and identify growth opportunities.
- Develop and execute the regional sales strategy in alignment with national commercial objectives.
- Drive regional revenue growth, market share and penetration across existing and new customer segments.
- Analyse sales performance, customer trends, market activity and territory opportunities to guide commercial decision-making.
- Manage regional sales forecasting, pipeline development, reporting and performance reviews.
- Ensure effective territory planning, customer coverage and prioritisation across the sales team.
- Oversee the development and growth of strategic retail, wholesale and Key Accounts within the region.
- Build and maintain senior-level relationships with key customers, Eye Care Professionals and retail partners.
- Identify new business opportunities, customer segments and markets to support sustainable regional growth.
- Support the sales team with high-level product presentations, customer negotiations and strategic sales opportunities.
- Drive successful execution of product launches, promotions, sales campaigns, conferences and industry events within the region.
- Work closely with Marketing, Commercial, Sales Support and other internal stakeholders to ensure effective execution of sales initiatives.
- Ensure the sales team maintains a high standard of CRM activity, customer information, sales reporting and opportunity management.
- Provide regular regional sales forecasts, performance reports, market intelligence and competitor insights to senior management.
- Promote a performance-driven sales culture focused on accountability, collaboration, customer service and continuous improvement.
