About the job Middle Office Manager - Chinese Securities Brokerage HKD 50-70K/m

Role Overview & Responsibilities

As a core member of the Operations and Settlement team, you will manage end-to-end post-trade clearing and settlement activities for transactions executed across Global Markets (US, Europe, Asia-Pacific) covering Bonds/Fixed Income, Mutual Funds, Structured Products, and OTC Derivatives.

In this role, you will execute pre-matching, trade matching, booking, and final settlement via core depositories and clearing systems (Clearstream, Euroclear, CMU, and Middle X), ensuring all operations are completed strictly within market cut-offs and in full compliance with local conventions and cross-border tax rules. You will handle client stock deposits and withdrawals, Settlement Instructions (SI), and mandatory/voluntary corporate actions (coupon fixings, dividends, redemptions) while liaising directly with global custodians, sub-custodians, and external brokers to investigate and resolve trade breaks or fails.

You will also serve as the operational escalation point for Front-Office trading desk inquiries and actively lead settlement system enhancements, automation, and digital optimization initiatives—defining user business requirements, drafting functional specifications, coordinating with fintech vendors, and steering User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

Key Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • 4–8+ years of proven operational experience in securities and bond settlement within an institutional broker-dealer, investment bank, or custodian bank (candidates with extensive team-lead or project management experience will be considered as Vice President).
  • Direct, practical hands-on experience with Middle X, Clearstream, and CMU (Central Moneymarkets Unit) operations is strongly preferred.
  • Solid product familiarity with Fixed Income/Bonds, Cross-Border Equities, Mutual Funds, Structured Products, or OTC derivatives, along with expert knowledge of international market settlement cycles ($T+1$, $T+2$) and conventions.
  • Demonstrated track record leading or participating in post-trade system implementation, workflow automation, or UAT projects, partnering effectively with IT teams and external system vendors.
  • Strong analytical, Excel, and problem-solving skills, with high accuracy, strong risk awareness, and the ability to perform reliably under market cut-off pressures.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; fluency in English and Cantonese is essential, with proficiency in Mandarin preferred.
