Job Summary:
We are seeking a technically proficient and client-oriented Tax Lawyer Assistant Manager to support the delivery of tax advisory services for corporate clients. This role involves legal research, tax planning, preparation of advisory opinions, and coordination with clients and regulators. As part of a collaborative tax and legal team, this role also includes supervisory responsibilities and participation in the resolution of tax disputes and regulatory matters.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in Philippine tax law, excellent legal writing skills, and the ability to manage both technical tasks and client interactions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare legal tax advisory memoranda, position papers, and documentation related to tax compliance, planning, and dispute resolution.
- Interpret and apply relevant tax laws, rules, and court decisions to client-specific scenarios.
- Assist in handling tax assessments, audit defenses, and regulatory proceedings before agencies such as the BIR or local government units.
- Review contracts and business structures from a tax and regulatory compliance perspective.
- Coordinate with clients to gather information, clarify issues, and deliver legal insights in a timely and professional manner.
- Supervise junior legal associates or analysts and provide guidance on technical matters.
- Monitor tax legislation and provide internal updates on regulatory developments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., audit, advisory, compliance) on integrated client solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB or JD); must be a licensed lawyer in good standing.
- 4-6 years of experience in tax legal practice, either in a law firm, corporate legal department, or professional services environment.
- Solid knowledge of Philippine tax regulations, rulings, and legal precedents.
- Experience in tax assessments, BIR audits, and regulatory representation is preferred.
- Strong legal writing, research, and communication skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines.
- Demonstrated client service orientation and ability to collaborate in a team setting.
