Role Summary:

We are building a new creator-led fashion marketplace. We seek an experienced Head of Engineering to join our startup. You will join the two founders, who have a combined 20 years of experience in the fashion space and leveraging work experience at famous brands.

You will first help to define the MVP from a technical perspective and then recruit a small team to develop the marketplace MVP ready for launch in March 2024.

This is an opportunity to join us at early stage and to build the marketplace from the ground up. This role is ideal for someone with the ambition to grow into our CTO role as we scale but can also get hands-on with developing and managing the initial MVP build. About the Marketplace:

This is a three-sided fashion e-commerce marketplace connecting creators, producers, and customers. Our marketplace simplifies the process for creators by providing easy-to-use fashion design and sales tools. Creators can focus on design and marketing, while producers handle production and logistics. The marketplace includes custom web portals for creators, producers, and customers and an admin portal. We plans to launch in March 2024 with six initial creators and four producers.

The Ideal Candidate:

Experienced Developer: You have at least five years of full-stack development experience.

Your Key Responsibilities:

Hands-on full-stack development of the four portals:

1. Customer Portal

2. Creator Portal

3. Producer Portal

4. Admin Portal

Providing valuable input on execution and strategy.

Collaborating with cross-disciplinary team members.

Support planning and scoping of new features.

Providing input on accessibility, feasibility, and performance.

Contributing to internal documentation and shared code libraries.

Skills:

Native-level fluency in English

Minimum of 5 years of experience in full-stack web development

Excellent communication, collaboration, time-management and self-management skills

Expertise in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript

Experience working with Shopify and other e-commerce platforms

Experience with source control (Git), pull request, and code review processes

Expertise with JavaScript frameworks (such as React or Vue.js)

Expertise working with databases (MySQL, MongoDB or similar)

Experience building and using APIs

Experience with cloud services

Experience with Node.js and serverless functions

Experience with source control (Git), pull request, and code review processes

Experience managing an engineering team

Awareness of the most established libraries, their ecosystems and how to choose between them

Proficiency in creating responsive, cross-browser compatible code

Remuneration:

First-year salary ranges between HK$400,000 to HK$600,000, with an increase in salary in the Second year based on performance and securing our next funding round. This role includes a meaningful equity stake in Banana as part of the core team and being an owner of the company.
