Overview: We are seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join our manufacturing facility in Elkhart, IN. This role requires a well-rounded individual with solid technical knowledge, machine troubleshooting expertise, and supervisory experience. The Maintenance Engineer will support plant facilities, manage maintenance teams, and oversee machine repair, new machinery implementation, and process improvements.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement maintenance procedures.
- Lead maintenance teams and carry out supervisory duties, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
- Plan, assign, and direct work while ensuring optimal workforce utilization.
- Maintain plant facilities and oversee maintenance for existing equipment.
- Design and implement new machinery and processes to improve safety, product quality, and process efficiency.
- Analyze workflows and design layouts to maximize efficiency.
- Collaborate with vendors to purchase equipment, materials, and parts that meet specifications and quality standards.
- Work closely with management, engineering, and other teams to ensure efficient production processes.
- Estimate production times, staffing needs, and associated costs to assist with management decisions.
- Apply statistical methods to forecast manufacturing requirements.
- Develop and manage the preventative maintenance (PM) program.
- Assist in the CAPEX plan and plant operating budget.
- Plan and oversee all repair and installation activities.
- Manage contractor relationships and service providers.
- Monitor expenses and control maintenance budgets.
- Maintain accurate records and track maintenance activities.
Qualifications:
- Supervisory experience required.
- Experience managing teams and guiding employees effectively.
- Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and plumbing systems.
- Strong background in machine troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Familiarity with facilities machines and equipment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites.
- Knowledge of maintenance programs/systems is a plus.
- PLC programming knowledge preferred.
- Robotics experience preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field strongly desired.
