Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled 1st Shift CNC Lathe Machinist to join our team in Elgin, IL. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience setting up and operating CNC lathes with Fanuc controls, machining stainless steel and non-ferrous materials, and working with live tooling, tailstock, and sub-spindle transfers. Experience with Feature Cam or Fusion 360 programming is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate CNC lathes to produce high-precision parts.
  • Plan, construct, alter, and repair various fixtures and tools.
  • Work from existing programs, equipment manuals, prints, work orders, and instructions.
  • Collaborate with engineering personnel and operators to coordinate machining of workpieces.
  • Set up equipment using common hand tools, set controls, and input program instructions for maximum efficiency.
  • Insert and indicate tooling, modify programs as necessary, and operate equipment.
  • Run test samples, monitor equipment performance, and make operating adjustments as required.
  • Measure finished workpieces to ensure adherence to tolerances.
  • Use grinders, mills, EDM, and honing equipment to finish parts when needed.
  • Clean and maintain precision measuring and electronic testing equipment.
  • Lubricate equipment as necessary and apply lubricants neatly.
  • Complete parts requisitions, tool requests, and required documentation.
  • Follow all written quality and procedural standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience setting up and operating CNC lathes with Fanuc controls.
  • Experience machining stainless steel and non-ferrous materials.
  • Knowledge of machines with live tooling, tailstock, and sub-spindle transfers is highly desired.
