Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Process Engineer - Press to join our metal stamping press department. This role focuses on optimizing production methods, improving processes, and ensuring operational excellence. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across engineering, production, and other departments, playing a key role in driving continuous improvement in manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze equipment, processes, operations, and assembly procedures to identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and troubleshoot stamping processes and specify forming and stamping equipment.
- Design and develop tooling, fixtures, and work aids for the department.
- Investigate and resolve tooling, processing, and assembly issues, initiating corrective actions as needed.
- Participate in cross-functional problem resolution teams.
- Assist in the design, installation, and debugging of tooling and capital equipment.
- Develop specifications for new equipment and analyze vendor proposals.
- Troubleshoot daily production issues in the press shop and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Reduce costs associated with scrap, rework, and cycle time.
- Optimize current and new manufacturing processes using continuous improvement methodologies.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience:
- Education:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering with a minimum of 2 years of related experience, OR 5 years of equivalent experience with demonstrated knowledge in the field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a metal stamping shop.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Pro E, or SolidWorks.
- Knowledge of design applications for stamping and metal forming processes.
- Working knowledge of equipment and systems related to metal stamping.
Preferred Experience:
- Die design and/or journeyman tool and die experience is a plus.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and procedures.
- Ability to design and analyze tooling and manufacturing equipment.
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and achieving world-class performance standards.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for long periods, stand, use manual dexterity, stoop, bend, and occasionally lift.
