Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist with a strong background in general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and accounts payable/receivable. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in GAAP compliance, NetSuite, and Excel, with the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

This role is part of a highly dynamic team and requires flexibility, problem-solving skills, and initiative to support various accounting functions as needed. Candidates must be available during the first four business days of each month to assist with month-end close, including potential overtime.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and oversee general ledger accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and revenue reconciliation.
  • Assist in preparing federal, state, and local reports and tax returns in compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes; ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to track financial transactions and maintain accuracy in reporting.
  • Follow company policies and interpret financial reporting requirements while maintaining compliance.
  • Act as a floater, providing coverage for teams during LOAs, PTOs, and high-priority projects.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining SOP documentation when required.

Must Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or related field).
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience (including general ledger, journal entries, financial reporting, AP/AR, and revenue reconciliation).
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and other relevant accounting regulations.
  • Expertise in NetSuite (mandatory).
  • Proficiency in MS Excel (including advanced formulas, pivot tables, and financial analysis).
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment, take initiative, and follow through on tasks.
  • Availability for the first four business days of each month to support month-end close.

Nice to Have:

  • Payroll accounting experience (not payroll processing).
  • Experience with invoicing processes beyond simple invoice entry.
  • Background in SOP documentation and process improvement.

Additional Information:

  • Fully remote; however, candidates should align with Pacific Time (PT) or Central Time (CT) zones.
  • San Diego-based candidates may opt for a hybrid schedule, though on-site work is not required.
  • 6-month contract to start, with potential extension based on performance and business needs.
  • Fast-paced, dynamic environment ideal for a self-starter who enjoys challenges and flexibility.

If you are a proactive, detail-oriented accounting professional with strong NetSuite and Excel skills, we encourage you to apply!
