Position Overview:
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will design, specify, and test automated modified atmosphere packaging machines and systems. This role involves working with flexible film tracking, heat sealing technologies, conveying systems, and product handling equipment. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure product excellence and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform mechanical design and engineering work for new products, special orders, and customer-specific projects.
• Utilize SolidWorks, Inventor, and AutoCAD for precise design documentation.
• Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOM) using INFOR CRM software.
• Conduct engineering calculations for mass, energy balance, load, and strength analysis.
• Specify mechanical components, materials, and instruments for new designs.
• Perform quality checks on manufacturing processes, providing technical guidance when discrepancies arise.
• Develop macros and formulas in Excel to streamline reporting and improve project efficiency.
• Collaborate effectively within a team environment and work independently when required.
• Participate in special projects to support department objectives.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience in capital equipment design and service.
• 5-10 years of related mechanical design experience in equipment manufacturing.
• Proficient in SolidWorks, Inventor, and AutoCAD.
• Ability to develop macros and formulas in Excel for improved reporting.
• Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes and component selection, particularly in the food packaging and meat processing industries.
• Experience with wash-down requirements, line integration, and scaling systems is a plus.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel (up to 10%, including internationally).
