Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer II to lead and oversee municipal infrastructure projects, ensuring the efficient planning, design, construction, and maintenance of public works initiatives. This role involves managing large-scale projects, supervising technical staff, coordinating with contractors and consultants, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical expertise, and problem-solving skills to manage critical infrastructure projects that enhance community safety and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and management of municipal infrastructure projects, including roads, sidewalks, parks, wastewater, and stormwater systems.
  • Supervise and coordinate technical staff involved in project planning and execution.
  • Prepare and review project designs, specifications, and contract documents to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Oversee construction contract administration, including change orders, payment approvals, and contractor coordination.
  • Conduct and manage on-site inspections to ensure projects meet quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in securing grant funding for public infrastructure projects by preparing and submitting grant applications.
  • Review engineering plans and building permits to ensure compliance with municipal codes and regulations.
  • Oversee and train staff in the use of CAD software for project planning and design.
  • Investigate public concerns, conduct field inspections, and provide technical recommendations to resolve issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 68 years of experience in civil engineering, preferably with municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Strong knowledge of municipal engineering, project management, and construction oversight.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, project design, and contract administration.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to conduct field inspections as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in municipal government or public works departments.
  • Familiarity with grant applications and funding programs for infrastructure projects.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to coordinate with stakeholders, contractors, and government agencies.
