Job Overview

Our client in the commercial construction industry is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Controller to oversee financial operations and act as a bridge between the field and office teams. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to key financial processes and provide actionable insights to leadership while supporting both operational and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison between field teams and accounting, ensuring seamless communication and accurate data flow.
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends and provide actionable recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Oversee accounting functions, including general ledger management, financial reporting, and budgeting.
  • Prepare and present financial data for monthly division reviews.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and strategies.
  • Supervise and support the job costing team to ensure accurate tracking and reporting.
  • Contribute to the streamlining of financial processes and the development of best practices.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3 years in finance/accounting, preferably in the commercial construction industry.
    • Expertise in job costing, general ledger management, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., ECMs by Computer Guidance Corp).
    • Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Communication & Leadership:
    • Strong ability to interpret financial data and translate it into actionable insights for leadership.
    • Experience with multi-company structures, including acquisitions and startups.

Preferred Skills:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • High emotional intelligence and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Position Details

  • Schedule: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
  • Environment: Office-based with 25% travel to job sites.
