Position Overview

A well-established site development company is seeking an experienced Sr. Grading Estimator/Project Manager to oversee estimating, budgeting, and managing site work and utility construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil site development, project management, bidding, and business development.

The role requires experience with 3D estimating software (Carlson Civil Software and/or Ag-Tek) and the ability to manage budgets, schedules, site superintendents, vendors, and subcontractors. Key Responsibilities

  • Estimate and manage multiple site work and utility construction projects simultaneously.
  • Utilize 3D estimating software (Carlson Civil Software and/or Ag-Tek) for project estimation.
  • Oversee and coordinate site superintendents, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Serve as the primary communicator with project owners and engineers.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings with owners, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Develop accurate bid proposals, including quantity take-off, crew composition, and pricing analysis.
  • Negotiate, secure, and manage subcontracts.
  • Compare bid pricing to historical data for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Interpret construction specifications and plans to communicate effectively with project teams.
  • Review and approve material submittals for projects.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, progress tracking, and budgeting.
  • Manage change order pricing and negotiations to maintain project efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • 510 years of experience in site work and utility construction project management.
  • Proven track record in estimating and managing civil site and utility construction projects.
  • Experience with Carlson Civil Software and/or Ag-Tek for grading estimation.
  • Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, crew composition, and production rates.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and scheduling software (Microsoft Project or equivalent).
  • Cost accounting experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team, meeting deadlines efficiently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in business development and client relationship management.
  • Strong negotiation skills with subcontractors and vendors.
