Compensation: $161,000 $200,000 (depending on experience)
Position Summary
We are seeking a visionary Architecture Higher Education Leader to lead and grow our Maryland architecture practice. This leadership role requires a licensed architect with a proven background in higher education design, team building, and business development. The ideal candidate will bring a balance of creative design leadership and strategic growth expertise, while fostering a collaborative, innovative studio culture.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader to shape the future of a regional architecture practice, influence higher education design at scale, and mentor the next generation of architects.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Business Development

Expand the firms higher education presence in the Maryland region through strategic business development and client relationship management.

Lead pursuit efforts for new projects in coordination with higher education leadership.

Develop and implement growth strategies that strengthen market share.

Mentor and inspire a team of architects, promoting design excellence, project delivery success, and professional growth.

Build strong partnerships with clients, consultants, and community stakeholders.
Project & Design Leadership

Oversee large-scale higher education projects ($10M$50M) from concept through completion.

Provide expert guidance in design, technical documentation, and graphic modeling.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate innovative solutions.

Ensure project success by aligning client expectations, budget, schedule, and regulatory compliance.
Team & Office Growth

Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performing studio culture.

Recruit, develop, and retain top architectural talent.

Align team strengths with strategic goals to enhance productivity and design impact.
Qualifications
Must Have:

Licensed Architect with 18+ years of experience in higher education architectural design and leadership (NCARB preferred).

Active professional architectural licenses beyond Maryland (Southeast / Mid-Atlantic).

LEED AP accreditation and SCUP membership.

Strong business development skills with a track record of winning new work.

Proven ability to manage large-scale projects ($10M$50M) from planning through execution.

Proficiency in design and graphic modeling tools (Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Suite, etc.).
