Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Category Manager to lead strategic sourcing and category management activities for our organization. This role serves as the primary liaison to internal stakeholders and business operations teams, providing expert guidance on supplier management, procurement strategies, and vendor relationships.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in category or commodity management, with strong skills in indirect spend, MRO, manufacturing, or software/service categories, and a proven track record in strategic procurement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead sourcing efforts and manage suppliers within assigned categories.

  • Develop long-term strategies and lifecycle plans for categories.

  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service agreements to optimize cost and supplier performance.

  • Act as a subject matter expert on market intelligence, category trends, and supply base analytics.

  • Oversee vendor management processes, including QBRs, SCARs, and PO administration.

  • Implement technology solutions to improve procurement efficiency.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business needs.

  • Analyze spend data, identify cost-saving opportunities, and develop negotiation strategies.

  • Participate in internal and external meetings as a trusted advisor on procurement matters.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 5+ years in a senior or lead category manager / commodity management role.

  • Experience in service, software, manufacturing, or MRO environments with indirect spend.

  • Strong influencing, negotiation, and communication skills.

  • Proficiency with ERP systems, spreadsheets, and business software.

  • Certifications preferred: Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), CPSM, APICS.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, establish priorities, and solve complex business problems.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Normal office environment with limited privacy and occasional background noise.

  • Ability to perform computer-based tasks, answer calls, and conduct meetings for extended periods.

  • Flexible and adaptable to shifting priorities and multiple simultaneous projects.
