Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced General Manager 6 Food and Nutrition Services to lead all daily food operations at a large academic healthcare facility in Washington, DC. This role oversees patient meals, retail services, doctor's lounges, and catering in a 900-bed hospital, ensuring exceptional service, compliance, and financial performance.

As the senior-most site leader, you will provide strategic direction, operational oversight, and team development, while maintaining strong client, patient, and staff relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day food & nutrition operations, including patient meals, retail, doctors lounge, and catering services.

  • Ensure high-quality food service and adherence to hospital and company standards.

  • Drive financial performance, achieving company and client goals.

  • Build and maintain strong client, patient, and customer relationships, emphasizing nursing collaboration and patient experience.

  • Develop and implement strategic operational plans for continuous improvement and growth.

  • Foster a positive work environment, focusing on staff engagement, development, and retention.

  • Ensure regulatory and compliance standards are met, including DC healthcare requirements.

  • Oversee management and administrative teams, including payroll, cash control, and reporting processes.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of management and functional experience in food & nutrition services.

  • Proven leadership in a healthcare environment, preferably large hospitals.

  • Strong focus on patient experience, staff development, and team engagement.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and healthcare food standards is a plus.
