Position Summary

We are seeking a General Manager Food and Nutrition Services to lead operations at a major academic healthcare facility in Washington, DC. This role oversees all food services, including patient meals, retail, and catering, ensuring exceptional quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction.

As the senior-most site leader, you will provide strategic direction, financial oversight, and team development, while fostering strong client and customer relationships in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day operations of all food and nutrition services.

  • Ensure high-quality delivery across patient meals, retail, and catering services.

  • Drive achievement of financial goals and performance targets.

  • Build and maintain strong client and customer relationships, including executive-level engagement.

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for service growth and innovation.

  • Ensure HACCP, regulatory, and company standards compliance.

  • Oversee and mentor management and administrative teams.

  • Manage payroll, cash controls, and reporting processes.

  • Navigate and lead within a unionized environment, maintaining positive labor relations.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of management and functional experience in food & nutrition services.

  • Proven leadership in a healthcare environment, preferably managing union staff.

  • Strong financial acumen and experience meeting budgetary goals.

  • Excellent client relationship and communication skills, including engagement with executive leadership.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, drive growth, and ensure high customer satisfaction.

  • Proficient in computer skills and report management.
