Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technician

Location: Brattleboro, VT

Shift Type: Evenings

Shift Times: 1:00 PM - 11:00 PM

Hours/Day: 80 hours per pay period

Salary: $65,000 annually (dependent upon experience)

Job Overview:

The Medical Laboratory Technician will perform various qualitative and quantitative clinical laboratory testing, along with quality control, across multiple departments including microbiology, chemistry, blood bank, hematology, and phlebotomy/urinalysis. The role demands independent work, team collaboration, and attention to detail in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

The Brattleboro Memorial Hospital Laboratory is C.A.P. accredited and operates as a full-service lab staffed 24/7 by certified professionals across various lab disciplines. The lab processes 100-125 patients daily and supports physicians, Brattleboro Retreat, nursing homes, and outpatient services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently perform clinical laboratory tests across various sections (microbiology, chemistry, blood bank, hematology, phlebotomy/urinalysis)
  • Ensure all activities are performed in line with established policies, procedures, and standards
  • Maintain high standards of quality control and reporting accuracy
  • Collaborate effectively with team members in a fast-paced environment
  • Utilize laboratory computer systems for data entry and analysis

Qualifications:

  • A.S. in Medical Laboratory Technology or related science - Required
  • ASCP-Certified as a Generalist - Required (verification needed)
  • Employed as a Generalist for the past 2 years - Required
  • Experience in laboratory computer systems - Preferred
  • At least 2 recent supervisory references - Required
  • Copy of highest degree earned (diploma or transcripts) - Required
