Location: Round Rock, TX
Shift: 12-Hour Day Shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM), 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
Salary Range: $24.55 - $35.54 per hour (based on experience)
Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Surgical Technician to join our Operating Room (OR) team. In this full-time day shift role, you will play a critical role in preparing the operating room and assisting surgeons during procedures. You will ensure the proper setup of instruments, maintain a sterile environment, and anticipate the needs of the surgical team for successful outcomes. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and make a significant impact on patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies according to procedure schedules.
- Scrub into surgeries and assist surgeons by passing instruments, holding retractors, and ensuring smooth operations throughout procedures.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team, ensuring the availability of all necessary supplies and equipment.
- Perform surgical counts of sponges, instruments, and other materials to ensure accuracy and prevent retained items.
- Maintain and manage the sterile field during surgeries, ensuring proper aseptic technique.
- Assist with patient positioning, draping, and preparation for surgery.
- Clean, decontaminate, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment following procedures.
- Follow infection control policies and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for patients and staff.
- Collaborate with the surgical and central sterile processing team to maintain inventory and ensure the availability of clean and sterilized instruments.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program.
- Less than 1 year of experience required (new graduates welcome to apply).
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) from NBSTSA or NCCT, or completion of formal training in the military or public health service.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire).
- Knowledge of human anatomy, sterile technique, and surgical procedures.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
