Job Title: Certified Surgical Technologist - Operating Room
Location: Round Rock, TX
Shift: Full-Time, 12-Hour Day Shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM), 3 Shifts Per Week (36 Hours Total)
Salary Range: $24.55 - $35.54 per hour, based on experience
Job Overview:
Join our team in an exciting role as a Certified Surgical Technologist during our upcoming hospital expansion in Round Rock, Texas. You'll play a vital role in preparing for and assisting in surgical procedures, ensuring a sterile environment and smooth operations. Key responsibilities include preparing instruments, maintaining sterile fields, assisting the surgical team, and following safety and infection control protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Scrub into surgeries on time and assist in preparing instruments and supplies before the surgeon scrubs in
- Prepare and maintain the sterile field and operating room environment for procedures
- Perform surgical counts of sponges, instruments, and sharps according to hospital policies
- Ensure proper functioning of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies during procedures
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team, passing sterile supplies and instruments as needed
- Assist in positioning and draping the patient and preparing the operative site
- Receive and handle surgical specimens according to protocol and ensure proper labeling
- Clean and decontaminate surgical instruments after procedures, preparing them for sterilization
- Follow infection control and safety guidelines to maintain a safe work environment
- Ensure that all surgical instruments and supplies are properly maintained and inventoried
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program
- Less than 1 year of experience (new graduates are encouraged to apply)
- Current certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) from NBSTSA or NCCT
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or must obtain within 30 days of hire)
- Completion of military surgical technologist training or experience prior to September 1, 2009, may meet certification requirements
