Shift: Full-Time, Variable Shifts (12-Hour Shifts), 3 Shifts Per Week (36 Hours Total)
Salary Range: $47.08 - $70.62 per hour, based on experience
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Director of Surgical Services to lead and manage the perioperative team, ensuring safe patient care and effective operational management. The Director will have 24/7 responsibility for the surgical services department, focusing on enhancing the patient experience, maintaining operational excellence, and driving staff engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and resolve real and potential problems affecting surgical services, implementing solutions with clear communication and follow-through
- Participate in hospital-wide and departmental committees, ensuring ongoing communication with represented teams
- Advance the customer experience by consistently improving surgical services processes and outcomes
- Provide coaching and feedback to subordinates, facilitating individual development plans and documenting performance
- Adhere to Human Resources policies and procedures while managing staff effectively
- Communicate industry trends and organizational updates to staff, fostering a transparent and informed environment
- Facilitate evidence-based employee engagement practices to improve staff morale and retention
- Build and maintain strong relationships with staff, physicians, and hospital leadership to achieve departmental goals
- Participate in employee and patient rounding, mentoring potential future leaders within the department
- Enforce standards of care and ensure consistent compliance with regulatory requirements
- Develop, implement, and evaluate an ongoing surgical services program that aligns with the hospitals mission and delivers quality patient care
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Nursing (required)
- Masters degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (preferred)
- 3+ years of leadership experience in surgical services or a related field (preferred)
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Florida (required)
- Certified Nursing Operating Room (CNOR) certification (preferred)
- Certified Surgical Services Manager (CSSM) certification (preferred)
- Deep knowledge of operating room (OR) procedures and surgical services best practices
- Minimum 2+ years of experience managing a surgical services department with 5 or more ORs
- Strong leadership and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate with staff, physicians, and hospital leadership
- Experience working with performance metrics and knowledge of Kronos scheduling software is desired
