Position Title: Nurse Manager - Phone Triage
Location: Bethel, AK
Sign-On Bonus: $15,000 for 2-year agreement, $20,000 for 3-year agreement

Position Summary:
The Nurse Manager will lead the operations of an after-hours phone triage line. This crucial role involves overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient triage services, and contributing to the implementation and ongoing management of the triage line. The ideal candidate will have clinical expertise, leadership experience, and a passion for delivering high-quality healthcare to remote communities. You will collaborate with various departments, including clinicians, quality assurance, and IT, to ensure seamless operation and patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations and manage the after-hours phone triage line.
- Lead the setup, development, and implementation of the triage line, collaborating with departments such as IT, Quality, and Patient Safety.
- Train and develop phone triage staff, ensuring adherence to established protocols and policies.
- Serve as a primary resource for staff on patient care and triage protocols, providing support for high call volumes.
- Lead quality assurance and process improvement efforts to enhance service delivery.
- Monitor the triage line for performance, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
- Maintain close communication with the IT department for system changes and enhancements.
- Provide backup support for overflow calls when necessary.
Position Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Masters preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Licensure/Certification: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing in the State of Alaska, and BLS certification.
- Specialized Knowledge: Experience with telehealth, emergency nursing, or triage services preferred. Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and telehealth technologies.
- Skills: Strong leadership and team management abilities, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge of healthcare regulations, and experience in quality assurance and improvement programs.
Desirable Skills:
- Familiarity with the healthcare needs of remote and indigenous communities.
- Crisis management and emergency response skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise the phone triage staff and manage call volume, ensuring staff is trained and supported.
- Act as a consult and trainer to the Triage Team.
