Position Title: Director of Surgical Services
Salary Range: $110,552 - $143,707 annually
Schedule: Full-time, 36 hours per week, No Weekends
Job Summary:
We seek an experienced Director of Surgical Services to lead our perioperative team. This role involves overseeing the operational and strategic management of our surgical services department, which includes 14 general surgery ORs, 2 ORs dedicated to C-sections, and 2 for cardiovascular operations. As a leader within a 506-bed facility recognized for high-quality care across multiple specialties, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our reputation for excellence in patient care and surgical innovation.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency and quality of patient care in surgical services.
- Lead and mentor a diverse team of over 110 FTEs, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Manage daily operations, ensuring compliance with all hospital policies and regulatory standards.
- Engage in fiscal management, including budgeting, resource allocation, and financial oversight.
- Foster strong collaborative relationships with staff, physicians, and external partners to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Drive initiatives to improve patient satisfaction and operational excellence.
- Participate actively in hospital-wide committees, contributing to broader organizational goals.
- Maintain the highest standards of safety and compliance in all surgical operations.
- Champion the adoption of new surgical technologies and procedures to enhance service offerings and patient outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Nursing required; Masters degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3+ years of leadership experience in a large hospital setting, specifically in operating rooms.
- Must possess a current RN license in the state of Virginia, or meet state licensure requirements.
- Professional certifications such as CNOR and CSSM are highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex teams and multi-functional operations within a surgical environment.
- Strong leadership skills, with a proven track record of mentoring and development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively handle complex situations.
