Job Title: Surgical Solutions Technician
Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Type: Full-Time, Rotational Shift
Pay: The starting rate is $19.80/hour, increasing to $21.00/hour after 120 days contingent upon manager evaluation.
Role Summary:
As a Surgical Solutions Technician, you will play a crucial role in our operating room teams, providing support services directly to surgeons and staff. This position entails working in both the Operating Room (OR) and Sterile Processing Department (SPD), encompassing a variety of tasks from pre-operative setups to post-operative equipment management.
Responsibilities:
- Pre-Operative Setup: Prepare operating rooms with necessary equipment and supplies according to surgeon preferences. Ensure all video and medical equipment is functional.
- Intra-Operative Support: Maintain sterile field, anticipate surgeon needs, and provide immediate support with equipment and supplies. Troubleshoot any equipment issues.
- Post-Operative Turnover: Assist in room cleanup, manage waste disposal, and prepare for the next surgery. Check and inventory all instruments and equipment.
- Equipment Maintenance: Inspect, maintain, and manage repairs for surgical instruments and equipment. Coordinate with vendors for necessary repairs and replacements.
- Department-Specific Tasks: Depending on the assignment, perform additional duties in endoscopy, SPD, or materials management, including cleaning, sterilizing, inventory management, and equipment preparation.
General Responsibilities:
- Uphold high standards of service and performance.
- Collaborate with hospital staff and fellow team members to enhance service quality.
- Maintain detailed records of procedures and compliance with hospital protocols.
- Participate in training and mentoring of new staff and students.
Schedule:
- Primary: Overnight shifts (M-F, 7 PM to 7 AM), with daytime availability required for initial training.
- Rotational: Early morning or late starts, with rotational weekend call shifts.
- Training: Approximately 2 months of daytime training.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED required; some college or technical education preferred.
- At least one year of OR experience is preferred, with a strong customer service background.
- Must obtain CRCST certification within 120 days if not already certified.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to respond quickly and efficiently to needs within a dynamic environment.
