Job Title: Certified Surgical Technologist - Operating Room

Location: College Station, TX

Shift: 10-Hour Day Shifts (7:00 AM - 5:00 PM, plus call rotation)

Shifts Per Week: 4

Scheduled Hours: 40 Hours Per Week

Hourly Rate: $24.55 - $35.54 per hour

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our Operating Room team. As a Surgical Technologist, you will be responsible for assisting surgeons and the surgical team during procedures by preparing the operating room, instruments, and sterile field. You will ensure the highest standards of patient care and safety are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Scrub into surgeries and prepare instruments prior to the surgeon scrubbing in
  • Prepare the operative site by aseptically cleaning and patient clipping as necessary
  • Set up the operating room with instruments and supplies according to procedure requirements
  • Ensure instruments and equipment are functioning properly throughout surgery
  • Conduct surgical counts of sponges, sharps, instruments, and other items per policy
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and assist during procedures by passing instruments and retractors
  • Assist with draping and positioning patients for surgery
  • Handle surgical specimens according to protocol and pass them off the sterile field for processing
  • Assist with the placement of surgical dressings after procedures
  • Disassemble and clean surgical instruments post-procedure, and prepare for transport to the decontamination area
  • Clean and restock the operating room, ensuring compliance with infection control and safety regulations
  • Maintain knowledge of equipment and instrumentation prior to patient use
  • Manage the inventory of clean and sterilized surgical instruments and supplies

Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program
  • Experience: Less than 1 year of experience preferred
  • Certification:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (must obtain within 30 days of hire/transfer)
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through NBSTSA or NCCT, OR completion of formal training in Surgical Technology through Military/Public Health Service OR employed in a surgical technologist role in a healthcare facility prior to September 1, 2009
